【摘要】:Referenceblocksfabricatedinaccordancewiththispracticewillexhibitspecificarea-amplitudeanddistance-amplituderelationshipsonlywithanimmersiontestat5MHzusingthesearchunit,testinstrumentandtestparametersdescribedinthispractice.Comparisontestatotherfrequenciesorwithuncalibratedinstrumentswillnotnecessarilygivethesamerelationshipsshowninthispractice.SeeReference(1)forarea-amplitudelimitationsatotherfrequenciesandtransducerdiameters.AlsoseeReference(2)forcautionsregardinguseofstandardblocksforteststandardizations.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureforfabricationandcontrolofmetalalloyreferenceblocksusedinultrasonicexaminationthathaveaflat-surfacesoundentry,arecylindricalinshape,andcontainflat-bottomholes(FBH)whichmaybeusedforcheckingtheperformanceofultrasonicexaminationinstrumentationandsearchunitsandforstandardizationandcontrolofultrasonicexaminationofmetalalloyproducts.Thereferenceblocksdescribedaresuitableforusewitheitherthedirect-contactmethodorimmersionpulse-echoultrasonicmethods.Note18212;Useofflat-surfacereferenceblocksmaynotbesuitableforcylindricalmaterials(3).1.2Whilethisprocedureisbasicallydesignedforthefabricationandcontrolofcarbonandalloysteelblockstobeusedinconjunctionwiththeexaminationofthesematerials,thefabricationandcontrolproceduresmayalsobesuitableforthepreparationofblocksforothertypesofmaterialssuchasnickel-basealloys,certaintypesofaluminumalloys,andsoforth.Additionalproceduresandcontrolsmayberequiredwhenfabricatingreferenceblocksfromotherthancarbonoralloysteelmaterial.Thispracticeshallinnowayprecludethespecificationoradditionofanysupplementedrequirementsasdeemednecessaryforthespecificapplication.Thispractice,however,mustnotbeconfusedwith,nordoesitsupersedePracticeE127,specificallygoverningthefabricationandevaluationof7075-T6aluminumalloyultrasonicstandardreferenceblocks.Note28212;PracticeE127andGuideE1158alsodescribeproceduresforselectingmaterial,fabricatingblocks,andcheckingresponse.Unlikethispractice,PracticeE127hasrequirementsforevaluationrelativetoaspecifiedstandardtarget.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
